Position Highlights

 

The Government Programs team has an interesting opportunity for a Government Relations & Policy Advisor. This unique role will build and maintain relationships with government and provide strategic policy and government support advice.


This position can be located in Victoria or North Vancouver.


Specific accountabilities will include:
• Managing the provision of guidelines, policy advice, writing services and support to business units/regions on government activities;
• Managing strategic advice, policy advice and writing services to executives and business areas in support of government and corporate initiatives, and ensuring a common understanding and consistent approach;
• Developing and implementing corporate decision frameworks and processes for major policy and legislative change initiatives on matters involving legal, public policy, and communications elements;
• Coaching, advising and supporting internal work groups on delivering initiatives, special projects and assignments related to shareholder activities; and
• Collaborating, building and maintaining productive relationships with government agencies, ministries, and colleagues within the division and other ICBC business areas to facilitate effective government interactions.

 

Position Requirements


Applicants must demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working with or in government;
• Knowledge of the principle, concepts, standards and best practices in the government relations and policy fields;
• Knowledge of government structure and processes, governance requirements and activities;
• Experience and knowledge in policy and government relations;

• Strong writing skills in order to prepare and provide advice on preparing briefing materials and decision documents;
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
• Solid strategic and business planning skills;
• Experience in preparing and making presentations; and
• Good working knowledge of government structures and processes.

 

The salary range for this position is $98,600 to $139,700.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. IND1
