ICBC’s Project Services team has an interesting opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager. As a Project Manager overseeing critical projects, you will work as a key member of our team and be responsible for implementing a variety of both internally/externally sponsored initiatives at ICBC.

 

You will report to the Senior Manager Program Management Operations and have various project delivery responsibilities which will reflect the current demands of our business/operational customers.

 

You are an accomplished leader in the project domain with 6+ years of leadership experience leading project teams.You will have good knowledge of project delivery having successfully delivered projects either from the implementation of IT projects or projects involving business change. You must have been accountable formanaging projects with budgets exceeding $2M with delivery teams comprised of internal and vendor resources.Experience with projects involving significant business process change, transitioning to operations and familiarity with managing offshore or remote teams is an added advantage. You will have navigated complex partner relationships both internal and external and be able to work collaboratively across multiple functions within the organization.

 

The curiosity to learn and perseverance to overcome is a critical success factor in this role.

 

As a Project Manager, you are responsible for the smooth, effective day to day functioning of project teams under your oversight, and ensuring that projects deliver on their scope/quality/benefit requirements, as well as beingcompleted on time and within budget.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Planning and managing the multiple work streams within an overall project(s) often involving systemsimplementation, software development, business change, people change management, training and communications.
  • Defining project scope and structure, and developing a project plan and budget.
  • Monitoring ongoing project delivery/execution and making changes to project plan and budget as required (including financial tracking/reporting).
  • Proactive identification and management of project risks, and timely resolution of project issues and problems.
  • Managing blended teams comprising of ICBC employees and external vendors (locally present and/or offshore),working with both Waterfall and Agile methods.
  • Coordinating project communications and managing the expectations of internal and/or external partners.
  • Developing or overseeing the development of project documentation.
  • Working within and supporting the project governance, standards and practices of ICBC’s project management office.
  • Providing guidance, direction and training to project team members.

 

Position Requirements:

 

To make an immediate contribution in this role, you will bring solid knowledge and experience in the following areas:

 

  • Proven ability in establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout project.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated effective management of project teams larger than 10 people working in a matrix environment and managing diverse teams (experience in managing offshore teams would be an asset).
  • Leading and facilitating cross-functional project teams.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, business partnership, team building and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of technology with the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in negotiation and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of financial and project accounting processes and principles.
  • Experience with pre-project planning and post-project benefit realization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices, methodology, tools and techniques (direct experience withICBC project delivery methods is an asset).
  • Experience with Agile application delivery methods.

 

Candidates will ideally have an undergraduate degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience) along witha number of years of progressive project management experience. A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a plus.

 

The position will reside in North Vancouver head office or Victoria Office.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Resident – you will work at your primary in-office headquarters on all scheduled work days.
  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. 
  • Hybrid 10 – you will work a minimum of 10 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically one week in/one week out or up to 3 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. 
  • Mobile – you will work a significant amount of time in the field, in addition to working from an office and optionally working remotely within British Columbia. 
  • Remote – you will work remotely from within British Columbia, with one required visit to your primary office per month.
