The Information Services Division is currently looking for QA Analyst on a Temporary assignment for 6 months to join our applications team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing solutions using a mix of testing approaches and tooling technologies to ensure the quality of ICBC’s various applications and Legacy Mainframe products.

 

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop and lead testing efforts, report on progress and create test strategies and plans for functional, integration, automation and user acceptance testing spanning multiple functional areas within a line of business.
  • Identify test objectives, develop and execute test plans.
  • Create manual test cases from acceptance test criteria and execute manual test cases as well as exploratory functional testing.
  • Write user acceptance criteria requirements in a structured fashion amenable to automated testing; creates and executes automated acceptance tests.
  • Run transactions through systems, validate data records and run regression testing.
  • Identify root causes for complex defects within portfolio and communicate resolution.
  • Provide guidance and training to other team members.

 

This position will require someone who has 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience in the domain of software testing or a combination of relevant post-secondary education and related business experience.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Solid understanding and hands on experience with database concepts, SQL or DB2 and use of test tools (e.g. JIRA, Zephyr, Cucumber, Selenium, SOAP UI etc.), SPLUNK, ITSM tools (e.g. HPSM, ServiceNow).
  • Experience with test strategies, plans, and various testing methodologies (e.g. risk based testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing, smoke testing, automated test experience and script creation).
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Experience testing functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Experience in conducting impact analysis in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience performing production support including incident, problem and change management.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work without supervision and in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and learning agility.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple concurrent tasks in an environment of changing deadlines, priorities and requirements.
  • Mobile applications testing experience would be an asset.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
