Position Highlights
We are looking for proactive, detail-oriented individuals to join our team and provide administrative and customer service support. In this role, you will prepare, document, and photograph vehicles for sale, assist customers with retrieving personal belongings, and manage accurate records and inventory. Your knowledge of vehicle specifications, organizational skills, and dedication to safety and customer service will be essential for success in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Your responsibilities may include:
Prepare Salvage for Sale
Washes vehicle and performs light interior detailing as required. Removes after -market products, license plates, personal belongings and garbage from vehicle. Ensures all keys, fobs or cards are secured with the vehicle. Performs engine start/run test and drive testing. Tests and checks condition of engines and batteries. Takes photographs for use in sale listings. Catalogues vehicle specifications and damage in written and visual media to generate accurate product descriptions.
Customer Service
Assists customers in retrieving personal belongings from salvage vehicles. May be required to escort customer or unlock vehicle so they can gain access. Explains salvage and vehicle disposal policies and procedures in understandable terms.
Records
Enters and updates system records and documentation related to salvage. Verifies correct match of vehicle identification number to claims file information. Maintains and updates salvage inventory data.
Position Requirements
Knowledge/Technical Skills
- of relevant department policies and procedures as they pertain to salvage and disposal of motor vehicles
- of motor vehicle makes, models, years, fuel types, mechanical and electrical parts, and equipment
- of occupational health and safety safe work procedures to connect and disconnect vehicle batteries and perform ‘engine starts’ and ‘run and drive’ testing of applicable salvage vehicles
- of the relevant computer applications and databases to enter, edit and retrieve data
- of basic digital camera/handheld touchscreen devices and image capturing to capture vehicle condition
Analytical/Problem Solving Skills
- to inspect vehicles and equipment and determine action required to prepare for sale
- to capture appropriate images and written descriptions of vehicles to be listed
- to ensure accuracy and relevance when recording vehicle details
Communication/Interpersonal Skills
- to explain salvage and vehicle disposal policies and procedures to internal and external contacts and customers
- to provide courteous customer service when returning belongings and responding to other inquires and required
Organization Skills
- to categorize and classify notes and images in relevant computer systems
- to work independently on assigned tasks
- to follow procedures and instructions while carrying out tasks
Physical/Concentration Ability
- to be alert to surroundings and personal safety while working around vehicles
- to bend, kneel and crawl in tight spaces to take photos
- to lift and remove vehicle parts and other times from vehicles
Work Environment
- exposure to all weather conditions
- exposure to noise, dirt and dust when working with vehicles
- requires use of personal protective equipment
Licensing/Accreditation (where applicable)
- Must meet the provincially legislated requirements of the Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA).
- Due to the specific nature of the work, the following will be required: valid BC Driver’s license
