The End User Platforms team at ICBC manages Exchange Email, Telephony, Print Services and oversees the adoption and support of M365 related services.

We are looking for a Technical Specialist to join the Exchange Email Workgroup. You’ll work in a modern Exchange Hybrid environment, supporting both on-premise Exchange servers and Exchange Online. The role focuses on maintaining mailbox services, mail flow, security, and availability while supporting Outlook across desktop clients.  You’ll troubleshoot complex messaging issues, collaborate with infrastructure and security teams, and help evolve the environment as cloud adoption and best practices continue to grow. 
 
A Technical Specialist acts as a technical subject matter expert and is accountable for ensuring day-to-day operational tasks are completed. They also provide support to corporate projects and lead the implementation of internal initiatives.    
 
To be successful in this role a candidate must have the following technical skills at an intermediate level with over 5 years of experience:

•    Administer Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange (Exchange SE) using the Exchange admin center and Exchange Management Shell / Exchange Online PowerShell.
•    Configure and troubleshoot hybrid Exchange (Hybrid Configuration Wizard), including Autodiscover/namespace planning and core coexistence features (free/busy, mailbox moves).
•    Manage mail flow: transport (mail flow) rules, connectors, accepted domains, remote domains, message tracing, and basic SMTP/TLS troubleshooting.
•    Administer Exchange Online Protection (EOP): anti-spam/anti-phishing policies, safe links/attachments concepts, quarantine workflows, and mail submission troubleshooting.
•    Integrate messaging with identity: Entra ID/Azure AD Connect sync fundamentals, RBAC/role groups, and modern authentication/OAuth concepts used in hybrid.
•    Perform mailbox and recipient administration at scale (mailboxes, shared mailboxes, groups, contacts, resource/room mailboxes, delegates, permissions) using GUI and PowerShell.
•    Support mailbox moves and migrations (remote move / hybrid migration endpoints), and troubleshoot Outlook connectivity (Autodiscover, MAPI/HTTP) and mobile access basics.
•    Manage certificates for Exchange (public SSL/TLS) and understand how certificates impact services like SMTP, IIS, hybrid connectors, and secure mail flow.
•    Operate and troubleshoot on-prem Exchange resiliency/maintenance (DAG concepts, backups/restore validation, patching and health checks) and monitor service health/performance.

Candidates must also be familiar with meeting room technology offerings from Lenovo, Poly, Nureva, and how Exchange Online overlaps with Teams Meeting.

To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate the following competencies:
•    Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
•    Ability to provide great customer service and act as a conduit between IT and ICBC Business Stakeholders
•    Proficiency in evaluating new technology for enterprise implementation.
•    Capability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple concurrent tasks.
•    Aptitude for providing technical guidance, advice, and direction to junior staff.
•    Competence in listening to and comprehending end-user requirements.
•    Aligning decisions with strategic plans or business practices.
•    Ability to effectively collaborate with vendors and business partners to deliver and support enterprise-grade solutions.

Experience in the following areas would be considered assets:
•    Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID for management of Users, Groups and Devices.
•    Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API 
•    Familiarity with Conditional Access Policies
•    Familiarity with Power BI and Power Automate

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
