We have an exciting opportunity for a designated accounting professional to join our Financial Governance & Accounting team. In this role, you will use your expertise in accounting and reporting to advise senior management on the financial implications of corporate decisions. You will work collaboratively with other corporate departments and have a focus on general accounting and taxation. You will also supervise a small team of experienced accountants.

 

As a Senior Financial Information Advisor, you will;

  • Provide high quality, accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting, both internally and externally.

  • Create and maintain various high value financial models and reports, including reporting for Claims Incurred and Provision for Unpaid Claims.

  • Prepare and review critical Year-end Financial Statement Notes.

  • Provide Commodity tax research and advisory.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.

  • Provide technical advice and direction to analytical support staff.

 

Position Requirements

 

Ideally, your post-secondary education is complemented by designation with the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC (CPABC) along with work experience in a large organization.

  • You have expert knowledge of Excel and experience with large data volume (data extraction, pivot tables, v-lookup, and functions)

  • This is enhanced by your sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices (IFRS), critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound judgments in a deadline-oriented environment.

  • Your working knowledge of ERP computer systems, data warehouses, and applications (ideally SAP) would be an asset.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
