With this enhanced understanding, ICBC is committed to making meaningful changes to better support Indigenous Peoples and communities. To further this important work, our Indigenous Relations department is evolving and expanding. As part of this growth, we are currently seeking a Policy and Procedures Analyst to join our team.

 

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the delivery of Indigenous Relations programs across the organization. The Policy and Procedures Analyst will be an experienced professional with expertise in reviewing and updating policy and procedure documentation and associated knowledge bases with an Indigenous perspective. They have a sound understanding of Indigenous History and have cultural awareness. They will be dedicated to supporting the decolonization of language employed within ICBC.

 

 

In this role, you will be required to use critical thinking and analytical skills to review and analyze source information. Your collaborative style will enable you to maintain open communication channels and obtain feedback from content owners and partners to ensure project and operational deadlines are met. Your attention to detail will enable you to ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with relevant corporate and divisional content standards.

 

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Review policies and procedures across all divisions with the aim of development, improvement and decolonization, in compliance with relevant corporate and divisional documentation and content management standards. This may include working with other departments like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Corporate Law to ensure Indigenous voices are involved. 
  • Participate in discussions with content owners and content reviewers to assess the impact of change, the need of content end-users, and to determine how the content will be delivered, and manage expectations on delivery timelines 
  • Write technical business documents including standard operating procedures, bulletins, and other knowledge assets as required 
  • Socialize drafts to content reviewers for review and revise drafts as required 
  • Coordinate approvals with concerned department and/ or content owners  
  • Plan and prioritize work to ensure timelines are met and established, and review and approval processes are followed 
  • Support the marketing and communications department in content review to ensure use of decolonized language in official communications as needed. This includes using ICBC’s Writing with Respect Guide: Guide for writing for Indigenous Peoples
  • Demonstrate initiative and responsiveness to the division’s on-going and new business change efforts

  

Position Requirements

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience:

 

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills 
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members and business partners
  • Experience responding to customers and understanding the customer perspective 
  • Ability to recognize and write to appropriate audiences and facilitate discussions
  • Ideally some formal training in technical writing or communications  

 

Some experience with the following would be beneficial:

 

  • Indigenous Gender Based Analysis Plus (IGBA+)
  • SharePoint libraries and lists
  • DITA and XML authoring
  • Jira and Confluence
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Please note: This is a hybrid role that requires working on-site twice per week. While you’ll occasionally be expected to work from our North Vancouver Head Office for team or divisional meetings and events, we can explore the possibility of the selected candidate working from the Burnaby or Vancouver locations on the remaining in-office days, depending on departmental needs.

 

Work arrangement defined:

 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
