ICBC is seeking an experienced Manager to join the Technology Operations team and oversee the Data and Development Platforms. This role involves developing, sustaining, and optimizing platforms that foster a data-driven culture and support application development at ICBC. 

 

As a technology manager, you will guide a cross-functional team to support diverse applications and capabilities, while also facilitating cloud transitions in alignment with ICBC's technical strategies and priorities. With a focus on platform operations, this role is ideal for a seasoned professional who can effectively influence and contribute to a complex environment. You will be a key member of our technology platforms leadership team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Technology Platforms. 

 

 Position Requirements:

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience managing cross-functional teams as a people leader, including coaching, hiring, development, and performance management. 
  • At least 6 years' experience designing, implementing, and sustaining complex data platforms for data management, analytics, and data science. 
  • Experience with development tools such as GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, and Jenkins, ensuring consistency across all applications. 
  • Experience contributing to solution architecture decisions and related documentation. 
  • Proven project management skills in planning and delivering small to medium-sized maintenance and application upgrade projects, including planning, tracking, monitoring, budgeting, and vendor/contract management. 
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing Cloud data solutions and Cloud migrations. 
  • Experience managing vendor and professional consultant relationships. 
  • Knowledge of Hypervisors, Containers, DevOps, DataOps , Disaster Recovery and ITSM processes. 
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and influence stakeholder decisions at various leadership levels. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address opportunities, challenges, and risks in a complex operational environment. 
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Guide platform teams to drive organizational change through technology transitions, delivering value to IT and business operations; 
  • Ensure the timely delivery of maintenance projects, releases, product upgrades, and fixes, while also providing prompt responses to compliance audit queries
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with IT and corporate stakeholders, collaborating to provide technology solutions for business problems. 
  • Lead and develop a high-performance operations team, focusing on automation, inspiring continuous improvement and innovative problem-solving. 
  • Stay informed of technology trends, focusing on modernizing, consolidating, and simplifying the technology layer. 
  • Identify future technology states and play a key role in technological transitions. 
  • Translate stakeholder needs into sustainable technology solutions, particularly in cloud platforms, both technologically and operationally. 
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and collaborate with professional service teams. 
  • Develop team goals and work plans, implement processes and procedures, and lead optimized service delivery while overseeing the team's budget and performance.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Resident – you will work at your primary in-office headquarters on all scheduled work days.
  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. 
  • Hybrid 10 – you will work a minimum of 10 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically one week in/one week out or up to 3 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. 
  • Mobile – you will work a significant amount of time in the field, in addition to working from an office and optionally working remotely within British Columbia.
