ICBC is looking for a Temporary Linux System Administrator to deploy, maintain, support, and troubleshoot our fleet of Linux systems spanning multiple business units. The right candidate will leverage their experience and interest in automation and operational efficiency to execute tasks and continuously improve on processes and procedures. Reporting to the Manager of the Server Cloud Operations team, the Linux System Administrator will work with customers and stakeholders, and contribute to projects.
As a Linux System Administrator you will be responsible for the following:
- Deploying, maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting Linux systems in a hybrid environment (on-premise and cloud);
- Performing system maintenance, software updates, and security patching via server configuration changes;
- Working collaboratively to troubleshoot Linux related problems impacting availability and performance of the server fleet;
- Automating repetitive tasks through scripting and by creating routines and playbooks in Ansible;
- Monitoring and measuring the performance of the Linux server fleet to identify issues;
- Contributing to projects and initiatives;
- Documenting technical processes, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and training; and
- Supporting other team members.
Position requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will bring the following:
- Knowledge and experience with Red Hat Linux in a hybrid cloud environment;
- Experience with server performance monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace or equivalent;
- Experience with scripting and automation;
- Knowledge of security protocols, hardening, and access management concepts;
- Proven track record of solving problems under pressure; and
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
While the following are not required, they are considered an asset for consideration:
- Knowledge and experience with the OpenShift Container Platform and container technologies;
- Knowledge and experience with Satellite, Microsoft Azure, and Nutanix;
- Knowledge of devops and the software delivery lifecycle; and
- Knowledge of Git, Nutanix Self-Service, and Python.

Work arrangements defined:
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
