Position Highlights
We are looking for a collaborative Digital Creative Specialist (videographer) who can tell great stories that will enhance customer and employee-focused communications within a large, purpose-driven corporation. This is a unique opportunity to create videos and animations that support ICBC’s visual identity and narrative. The successful applicant will apply their expertise in communications designed for a range of external and internal audiences throughout B.C., including ICBC’s customers, business partners and employees. Our collaborative creative team work in a hybrid workplace, with two days a week at our head office near the Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
With proven experience making video in a complex organizational environment, the Digital Creative Specialist will create videos, and some audio, for a variety of communication channels (including our website, staff newsletters, campaigns, training materials, and social media). The ideal candidate has a passion for team collaboration, storytelling and innovation, with proven experience working creatively within brand standards and guidelines, and the ability to distil complex concepts into effective communications tactics. They are comfortable shooting in the studio and in the field and they are able to articulate when the camera can help tell a great story in a way that words cannot.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
-To conceptualize, plan, shoot, edit and execute clear and compelling videos that engage and inform internal and external audiences, in consistent and appropriate styles across a range of corporate marketing and communications initiatives.
-To support the implementation of our visual identity guidelines in all materials that are executed by Creative Services. Works to enhance our video templates, animations and sonic brand. Provides their expertise and vision in helping to grow our library of b-roll, animated illustrations and other brand assets and templates in collaboration with the Creative Services team.
-To consult and collaborate with our team and/or internal clients to identify needs for projects and campaigns. Evaluates and reviews creative briefs and work requests. Makes strategic and innovative recommendations based on industry knowledge, research, and expertise.
-Executes and delivers projects, establishing work back schedules and maintaining key milestones. Communicates regularly with team members and adjusts as needed to meet deadlines.
-Reviews materials to ensure that they meet our standards for usability, customer-experience and visual coherence. Takes art direction and feedback from colleagues.
-To provide support and expertise for podcasts, file conversion and the occasional AV set-up for internal events
-Continuous learning of new software, accessibility standards, and best practices in video storytelling.
Position Requirements
Knowledge of the following areas is required:
-Technical skills: Video production expertise and industry best practices, mastery of Adobe Premiere, advanced skills in Adobe After Effects, Audition, Photoshop and Illustrator. Ability to create 2D motion graphics with a focus on path animations, working with illustrations and infographics. Knowledge of 3-point lighting styles and operation of varying production lighting setups. Ability to work with PCs and troubleshoot conversions of various file types. Audio production/recording, event support, and candid photography knowledge considered an asset.
-Analytical/Problem Solving Skills: identify risk impacting delivery on a commitment, and offer potential solutions, review and execute videos that tell the right story to the right audience.
-Communication skills: to be a collaborative partner for team members and our clients, to provide advice and expertise to team members and clients on video needs. Able to direct non-expert talent and provide positive reinforcement and guidance during pre-production and production and to work with on-camera talent with little or no experience, who require coaching to attain the best possible end product.
-Collaboration skills: Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts and team members to create compelling story-driven content that engages and excites. This position works collaboratively with colleagues across the company. Ability to take direction, feedback and criticism productively and positively and apply it to craft the best possible product.
-Organizational skills: Ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently and prioritize delivery. This position will often be working on several projects, often with conflicting deadlines. The ability to deliver on schedule and maintain momentum on other projects is critical.
-Concentration ability: to handle multiple tasks and work to strict deadlines, to produce precise and accurate results. To show agility in a wide variety of shooting situations. Able to troubleshoot technical issues on the fly, not limited to projectors, microphones, camera issues, production issues, location issues etc. An ability to quickly pivot and change scope/concept/deadlines when necessary is critical.
-Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent
-Other duties as required.
The above requirements would typically be met through completion of post-secondary education in film-making, video production, or digital media studies and 2-5 years of related, recent professional experience in a corporate or public-sector environment. Work arrangements defined:
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
