The Information Services Division is currently looking for Intermediate Developer to join a highly innovative application team. In this position, you will take on the integral role designing and building high quality digital and automation solutions to support used by our staff, partners and customers.
As an Intermediate Developer, you will be responsible for:
• Providing technical expertise while balancing and leading medium to high complex work for the design, configuration, development, and delivery of software applications in a hands-on capacity.
• Providing estimates for business cases, impact assessments and projects, engaging Business Systems Analysts (BSA) and Delivery Leads.
• Develop automation methods, identify performance and system capacity requirements, and implement development tools to gain efficiencies with application development and operational support.
• Investigation and resolution of production problems related to the applications.
• Researching and assessing the use of new emerging technology through development of prototypes.
• Peer review as well as performing review of tasks for junior developers.
Position Requirements:
This position will require someone who has 3-5 years of relevant hands-on experience or a combination of relevant post-secondary education in computer science and related business experience.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Experience with development and web design frameworks such as Java/C#/C++, React, SQL/Oracle, XML, JSON.
• Familiarity with web design principles and frameworks such as React JS/Native.
• Experience with Dev-Ops, build and release management, migration methodology and related toolsets.
• Excellent written and verbal communicator, with proven ability and experience to work with product owners in designing, building, testing, and implementing solutions.
• Demonstrates complex problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Research and assess the use of new emerging technology through development of prototypes.
• Hands on experience with unit testing, functional testing, automated testing and application debugging techniques.
• Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver concurrent tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Experience overseeing junior developers, including code reviews, code refactoring, support and coaching.
• Applied knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies and best practice.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and learning agility.
• Familiarity with creating business flows using Visio or similar software
• Able to produce high-quality documentation, procedures and standards.
The following will be considered an asset:
• Experience with Robotics Process Automation (RPA) tools and frameworks.
• Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium
• Exposure to security frameworks (e.g. authentication - LDAP, AD).
• Experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter, Outsystems, React web development
• Exposure to Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
• Exposure or knowledge of AI and GenAI platforms
• Ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple concurrent tasks in an environment of changing deadlines, priorities and requirements.
• Experience in guiding and mentoring team members including code reviews and code refactoring.
• Applied knowledge of industry best practices, and experience researching tools and techniques for systems review and design to ensure effective application design.
• Mobile application development would be an asset.

Work arrangements defined:
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
