Position Highlights
We are in search of a skilled and thorough Corporate Security Advisor to become a valued member of our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the integrity and security of our organization's people, property, and reputation. Your core responsibilities will be to investigate security incidents and to support and promote a safe and secure workplace.
This position demands meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to upholding a secure and efficient workplace environment. Reporting directly to the Corporate Security Manager, you will be a pivotal contributor to our security efforts.
General Accountabilities
This role manages and oversees the physical access control systems throughout the province and provides security services in a timely manner with emphasis on customer service. We are looking for a candidate who has previous experience in dealing with a dynamic workload who is highly detailed and adaptable. Your flexibility to move between multiple priorities, ability to proactively problem-solve, and a proven ability to coordinate and organize activities is best suited in a fast-paced environment. You are a proactive and solution-oriented individual with sound judgment who can anticipate needs and take independent action on a broad range of administrative tasks and projects. You have the ability to identify and escalate issues and connect business needs in a dynamic, ever-changing environment. Your collaborative nature has proven beneficial for your team when ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Specific Accountabilities

Provides and assigns access, makes changes to existing access control levels, and issues of ID cards to employees, contractors and external partners.

Issues and tracks all building/office keys, including keys issued to employees, contractors and all other external partners.

Manages the annual costs associated with the physical access control program.

Provides support and coordination during access control initiatives and enhancements or during data migration activities.

Oversee the inventory and purchasing of new Access/ID cards and related supplies.

Oversee the purchase and ordering of keys, locks and associated hardware supplies and coordinates the Locksmiths suppliers’ services.

Diagnoses and determines appropriate course of action for technical problems related to the operations of access control systems and equipment and takes the appropriate action to resolve all identified problems.

Conducts risk and threat assessments, site security audits, and supports the other members of our team to mitigate workplace violence and loss to the corporation.

Develops, conducts and reports on internal access control audits on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis

Develop monthly, quarterly and yearly reports on security incident trends for internal stakeholders.

Assumes the role of Site command within the Head Office evacuation plan.
Qualifications and Requirements
-
Several years of related direct/indirect work experience in a continuous learning environment is typically required for someone to perform this job competently.

Knowledge of current access control systems such as Milestone, Genetech, and Lenel
-
Knowledge of technical concepts, applications and operations of both integrated and standalone security systems
-
Knowledge of electronic access control concepts such as card encryption, card formats, programming and administration
-
Knowledge of physical door hardware concepts and components including but not limited to keys, keyways, biting, door levers and handles, electric strikes, electric locksets, hinges, maglocks and other associated door hardware.

Knowledge of the relevant acts and legislation, including those that govern the private security industry.

Knowledge of best practices and current trends in security technology, equipment and techniques

Proven track record of completing reports and large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote etc.

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to thrive both independently and as a collaborative team member.

Knowledge of relevant corporate computer applications and databases.

Strong teamwork, business, and service orientation competencies.

Must meet the provincially legislated requirements of the Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA

Knowledge of building codes, fire codes and the criminal code

Knowledge of relevant corporate computer applications and databases

Knowledge of surveillance equipment and techniques
Preferred Qualifications
-
Relevant certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional) and CPTED training or related designations are considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience with compliance initiatives, and incident management.

Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System; the Criminal Code of Canada and relevant federal and provincial statues, acts and regulations relating to the investigation of property crime and crimes against persons.

Knowledge of implementing crime prevention strategies, crime prevention through environmental design (CEPTED) and awareness programs.

Knowledge of best practices and current trends in security technology.

Keeps up-to-date and current on investigative methods, tools, systems, and technology.

Proven track record in the security, security systems or risk management field.

Proven track record in the investigation of property crime and crimes against persons.

Knowledge of emerging security threats and best practices to mitigate them.

Proven track record in driving security initiatives and implementing security controls.
