The Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Pre-Approved Program at ICBC is an engaging and immersive 30-month program designed to create a pipeline into finance roles. Participants rotate across Accounting, Financial Reporting, Financial Governance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit functions to develop CPA competencies, gain exposure to finance and business processes, and grow their network.
The program includes a supervisor and mentor to guide you through the program and towards a professional accounting designation. The program offers study leave prior to major exams and financial support by sponsoring the cost of the CPA PEP program in addition to continued support through payment of courses and additional learning materials ie. Densmore. We are looking for eligible candidates to join our team in January 2026.
Requirements:
- A recent university degree and is eligible to enroll into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). The successful candidate would be expected to start Core 1 in January or May 2026.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
- High levels of initiative and accountability with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information using well developed discretion and judgement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Position Highlights
Accounting, Financial Reporting and Financial Governance
- Provides high quality, accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting, both internally and externally.
- Assists with preparing accounting assessments and cash flow statements according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Develops or evaluates financial reporting processes to support the financial reporting infrastructure.
- Performs procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
- Evaluates the impact of alternative and/or new accounting standards/policies.
- Prepares and/or reviews financial statements and accompanying notes.
- Reviews, proposes, or accounts for the entity’s transactions including complex transactions.
- Prepares, evaluates, or manages information within an entity for decision- making.
- Prepares or reviews budget information.
- Identifies, develops, or evaluates business processes to support management information needs, decisions, and control frameworks.
Internal Audit / Enterprise Risk Management
- Analyzes and prepares the entity’s risk assessment process through a working knowledge of the industry, regulatory, and economic environment.
- Analyzes the information system and processes, including data requirements and risk exposures.
- Analyzes the entity’s audit needs including criteria or standards that need to be applied based on the nature of the work being completed.
- Evaluates the issues, risks, and materiality for audit engagements through awareness of business strategies, policies, and standards to support senior management and the Board in protecting ICBC and its reputation.
- Conducts audit engagements that critically assess processes by evaluating and developing appropriate procedures that consider the use of data analytics, based on the identified risks. From this, analyzes or performs the work plan and evaluates the evidence and results of analysis in a documented audit report.
- Draws conclusions, communicates results, and contributes to a report for stakeholders, using data visualization where appropriate. Reports on audits to provide clear, concise and memorable insights on issues and potential issues to assist management in fulfilling mandates.
- Analyzes or researches components of a risk management program and analyzes its impact on shareholder value or analyzes the impact of IT/IS risks on enterprise risk and identifies appropriate risk management strategies.
- Applies sound judgement in the execution of the assigned work and ensures open lines of communication.
- Develops and maintains good working relations with key stakeholders.
Core 1 Salary: $67,000 + 14% in lieu of Vacation and Benefits + 3 wellness days

Work arrangements defined:
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
