Position Highlights
Our Business Reporting and Analysis team has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analytics Consultant to join our team.
The primary function of this newly created team is to support the Insurance division's growing demands of data and reporting. The successful candidate will liaise between the Insurance Business and IT teams to ensure data requirements and business rules are understood, and deliverables are completed.
You are a data driven, critical thinker that will lead a small team to perform analysis in support of business initiative development, including drafting test cases, identifying gaps/growth opportunities, and producing reporting tools and solutions to track business performance metrics.
In this role, you will provide advisory services to senior management and operational leaders in the Insurance division to support data-driven decision-making, identifying and translating their needs for data-driven insights into meaningful analysis and ad hoc reports.
You have experience with automotive trends and have created reporting to help executives to make informed data driven decisions.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Effective leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate, mentor and collaborate with various divisions
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, with a proven track record of synthesizing large amounts of data to identify areas of opportunities and/or risks
- Experienced working in a large, complex business environment with various stakeholders, with the ability to communicate analysis in a clear, concise manner and within the business context to leadership
- Strong organizational skills and knowledge of project management principles in order to prioritize requests, develop work plans, execute descriptions and monitor plans for projects of various scales
- Knowledge of different enterprise applications and testing methodologies with the ability to diagnose and resolve functional and technical issues
- Ability to transform data into information, insights and thus outcomes; must demonstrate past experience writing summary reports and/or presentations that translate the results of analysis for use by senior management
- 5+ years of experience with data extraction, exploration/visualization, analytics, and reporting tools used at ICBC, including SQL, SAS/R, Spark, Zeppelin, and Tableau. Strong SQL proficiency is mandatory.
- Hands-on experience querying enterprise data warehouse environments using Hadoop, IBM DB2, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server, including writing complex SQL, supporting analytical workloads, and working with large-scale datasets.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Mathematics is preferred.
Work arrangements defined:
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. #IND1
