The End User Platforms team at ICBC manages email, telephony, print and virtual desktop & application services. 

We are looking for a Technical Specialist to join the End User Platforms Citrix workgroup in Kelowna.  The role focuses on maintaining, managing and supporting Citrix related services including virtual application, multi-session and single session virtual desktops. You’ll troubleshoot complex VDI issues, collaborate with infrastructure and security teams, and help evolve the environment as cloud adoption continues. 
 
A Technical Specialist acts as a technical subject matter expert and is accountable for ensuring day-to-day operational tasks are completed. They also provide support to corporate projects and lead the implementation of internal initiatives. 
 
To be successful in this role a candidate must have the following technical skills at an intermediate level equivalent to more than 5 years experience:

•    Act as the primary point of contact for all Citrix-related inquiries and issues
•    Support and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments, including Citrix Studio, Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA), Workspace Environment Management (WEM), Citrix Workspace, and Nutanix
•    Collaborate with application and platform teams to coordinate the management and support of JumpHost and virtual application servers
•    Perform regular maintenance to ensure high availability of business-critical virtual application servers
•    Conduct system audits to maintain the health and availability of Citrix resources, including JumpHosts, virtual application servers, and virtual desktops
•    Manage user access and implement configuration changes across Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments
•    Provide technical guidance to application teams on installation and configuration best practices within the Citrix environment
•    Partner with Server Cloud Foundation and Network Platforms teams to provision and manage Citrix infrastructure
•    Deliver advanced support for Citrix virtual machines and JumpHost provisioning processes

To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate the following competencies:
•    Skill in managing, prioritizing, and completing several tasks at once.
•    Capacity to make decisions that support strategic objectives or business practices.
•    Advanced technical support expertise, including a track record of efficiently solving complex problems and offering practical solutions for users.
•    Background in technical consulting, with experience guiding stakeholders on best practices and recommending ideal technology options.

•    Effective project planning capabilities, demonstrated by organizing resources, setting clear goals, and overseeing timelines to ensure projects are completed successfully.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
