Position Highlights

 

We are looking for a Commercial Claims Appraiser to join the Commercial Estimating Services Team in one of the following locations:

  • Abbotsford
  • Kamloops
  • Maple Ridge
  • Prince George
  • Surrey

 

The Commercial Claims Appraiser will estimate partial losses and evaluate and settle total losses for commercial trucks, tractors and other specialty heavy equipment vehicles. This role is focused on material damage estimating for insurance losses including garage policy claims, transit claims, and property damage.

 

Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Performing an advanced level of estimating on non-drivable, high end and other specialty vehicles, heavy equipment and on vehicles involving a significant fraud component/potential
  • Planning, scheduling and conducting audits of the estimating and quality standards, practices and repair techniques
  • Writing procedure manuals on repair times for high end and other specialty vehicles, as required
  • Maintaining awareness of the latest trends in automotive design and repair technology.

 

Position Requirements

 

Your Qualifications will include:

 

  • Knowledge of current standards and the latest trends/technological developments in the heavy equipment industry with a focus on the techniques and equipment used for high end and other specialty vehicles
  • Knowledge of the relevant Claims policies and all material damage procedures and systems
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Previous experience with coaching and training estimator trainees, adjusters and other estimators
  • Body shop industry training and several years of experience in the Estimator role.

Work arrangements defined: 

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
